I know exactly what itโs like to feel like your stomach is the boss of your life.
For as long as I can remember, I had a “grumpy” tummy. As a kid, I dealt with constant pain and trips to the bathroom. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I finally found out why: Lactose Intolerance.
I thought cutting out dairy would be the magic fix. I used the pills. I changed my milk. But I still didn’t feel “normal.” Instead of the old problems, I started dealing with a new one: Constipation. I spent years going to doctors. We checked for ulcers, Crohnโs disease, and more. Finally, I got a name for it: IBS.
The “Healthy Food” Trap
I tried to eat better. I reached for fruits and vegetables because thatโs what “healthy” looks like, right? But for me, those “healthy” foods triggered a flare-up. I was scared to eat. To stay safe, I started eating a lot of carbs. Over time, I gained 30 pounds and felt more tired than ever.
Then Came Menopause
Now that Iโm in my 50s, everything feels even more complicated. Itโs not just the bloating (I honestly donโt remember ever having a flat stomach!).
Now, itโs also:
- Night sweats that wake me up.
- Mood swings that come out of nowhere.
- The “menopause middle” that makes my pants feel too tight.
- Heartburn and hot flashes.
Why I Created Better Belly Co
I got tired of feeling like my body was changing “without my permission.” I got tired of the expensive supplements and the biohacking trends that felt like too much work.
- I wanted to get back to basics.
- I wanted to see if the food in my kitchen and the nature around me could actually make my stomach feel better
And what I found out in the process was so much more than that. It calmed my menopause system and healed me from the inside out.
I still use tools like probiotics when my body needs extra support, but they are no longer the stars of the show. Nature is.
Iโm not a doctor.
Iโm a woman who has “been there.” Iโve spent years learning how to calm my gut and feel better with wholesome food and daily habits, so I can finally eat with confidence again.
Whether I am picking a fresh papaya or taking a quiet moment by the ocean, I have learned that healing starts when we stop fighting our bodies and start listening to them.
